Mission:

The Sanneh Foundation (TSF) is dedicated to addressing the comprehensive youth development needs of the diverse communities in the Twin Cities area. Position Summary:

The Vice President of Advancement will spearhead a dedicated team responsible for fundraising initiatives, volunteer engagement, corporate philanthropy, and communication strategies for the organization. This role involves collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Directors to cultivate and secure significant contributions from various stakeholders, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. As a vital member of the Executive Team, the VP of Advancement plays a crucial role in the strategic and operational success of The Sanneh Foundation.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Executive Vice President

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees the Director of Marketing and Events, Grants Manager, and Volunteer Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop a comprehensive fundraising plan that ensures sustainable growth through individual, foundation, corporate donors, and potential government grants.
  • Goal Setting: Establish annual fundraising goals and monitor progress towards achieving these objectives.
  • Event Management: Lead the planning and execution of major fundraising events.
  • Contractor Oversight: Manage third-party contractors involved in fundraising and special events.
  • Donor Pipeline Development: Create a robust pipeline of potential supporters through referrals and research.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the preparation of grant proposals and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Donor Analysis: Conduct regular assessments of donor contributions to evaluate the financial health of the organization.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate partners and the philanthropic community.
  • Board Engagement: Interface with the Board of Directors to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning process and annual reporting for the organization.

Partnership Development:

  • Expand and nurture strategic partnerships with corporations and non-profits that align with our mission.
  • Lead initiatives to build relationships with major individual donors.
  • Act as a representative to communicate community needs and the foundation's core messages.
  • Coach senior staff in donor relationship development.

Marketing and Communication:

  • Develop a marketing strategy that fosters meaningful relationships with key external audiences.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of marketing initiatives using various communication tools.
  • Manage messaging for program participation and donor engagement.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years in non-profit development or business development, preferably in education.
  • At least four years of experience managing a team.

Additional Skills:

  • Passion for the mission and demonstrated leadership effectiveness.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven track record in major gift fundraising.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Experience with donor databases and relevant software tools.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with diverse groups.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and mentorship to staff.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
