Sales Territory Representative

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate and maintain customer relationships within a collaborative sales framework.
  • Oversee product deliveries according to the logistics schedule set by the transportation team; address any issues that arise during the order fulfillment process (e.g., delivery errors, insufficient loads, inventory shortages).
  • Engage in account receivable management as needed, coordinating with the finance department and clients; ensure collection of all outstanding balances in accordance with established credit terms.
  • Utilize additional resources to maximize penetration in key markets and facilitate the opening of new accounts.
  • Generate new business opportunities; identify potential clients by leveraging market research databases, business directories, referrals from current clients, and participation in industry organizations and events.
  • Stay informed about market trends, product advancements, and competitor offerings; share valuable insights with clients as part of the service provided.
  • Travel to existing and prospective clients to ensure timely product delivery, which may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75lbs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Vice President of Local Sales, Accounting/Credit Department, Marketing and Merchandising, Operations, and Customer Service.


External:
Clients, suppliers, potential customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly operates outside of the office environment, visiting clients in varying weather conditions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 year of sales experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the foodservice sector, culinary arts, restaurant management, or hospitality is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to establish relationships both internally and externally, and proactively seek new business opportunities.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • A competitive mindset with a focus on achieving results.
  • Proficient problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative approach to working with internal and external partners.
  • Proficient in computer applications; experience with Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g., Salesforce) is preferred.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
