CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, 32 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $25.24 per hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Cultural Activities Coordinator is tasked with enhancing the growth and effectiveness of the Youth Empowerment and Violence Prevention Cultural Activities team, focusing on the Ballet Folklorico program for various age groups. Collaborating closely with the Program Manager, the coordinator ensures the Ballet Folklorico program is executed with excellence, fostering youth engagement and participation in performances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to maintain high standards in the Ballet Folklorico program, including overseeing practices, ensuring safety, and managing attendance records.
  • Facilitate family engagement by managing communications with parents and guardians, and organizing gatherings throughout the dance school year.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with partner organizations, schools, and community entities to enhance program visibility.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting reports to funders for review and approval.
  • Engage in strategic planning for program expansion and improvement.
  • Coordinate activities with program contractors for effective instruction and events.
  • Document program effectiveness through data collection and analysis, contributing to ongoing improvements.
  • Advocate for policies that promote equity and support Latino youth and families in cultural identity development and violence prevention.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work collaboratively within a team environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in leading culturally relevant performing arts programs for Latinx youth.
  • Proven ability to foster inclusive environments for youth with diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in coordinating events and activities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with schools, families, and community organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may require working in various settings, including community spaces and remotely. Flexibility in work hours is essential to accommodate program needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regular lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and the ability to perform tasks in various physical environments.
