Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced STEAM Coordinator to join our team at Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of programming activities that promote youth development and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and Supervise Youth: Provide guidance and support to a group of elementary, middle, or high school members, helping them to develop their skills and interests.
  • Plan and Deliver STEAM Activities: Create and implement engaging and interactive STEAM programs that cater to the needs and interests of our youth members.
  • Collaborate with Club Leadership: Work closely with the Club leadership team to ensure that daily operations, safety, and programming requirements are met.
  • Attend Training and Professional Development: Participate in all scheduled training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate with Parents and Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with parents, program partners, and stakeholders to ensure a safe and supportive Club environment.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Youth Development Principles: Possess a strong understanding of youth development principles and practices.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Be able to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision.
  • License to Drive (Preferred): Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive Club vans (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Youth Development: Have experience working with youth in a development setting, preferably in a STEAM-related field.
  • Commitment to Equity and Accessibility: Demonstrate a strong commitment to improving equity and accessibility in youth development.
  • Anti-Racist Approaches: Possess a commitment to anti-racist approaches to our work.
  • Diverse Life Experiences: Bring diverse life experiences and perspectives to the role.
Working Conditions
  • Travel Requirements: Travel up to 0-10% based on position.
  • Physical Demands: Fast-paced working environment with extensive computer usage and online engagement. Must be willing to build inclusive relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels within the organization and external partners.
