Position: Juvenile Correctional Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing and directing subordinate personnel. Serves as the lead on duty for a specific unit or program. Ensures the safety and orderly conduct of the facility throughout the assigned shift.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned personnel.
  • Manages administrative responsibilities such as documentation, record maintenance, and report generation.
  • Develops and enforces operational and security protocols.
  • Implements rules, regulations, and laws necessary for the effective management of juvenile offenders and public safety.
  • Trains and oversees canines for various operations including tracking, search and rescue, and contraband detection.
  • Responsible for the inspection, inventory, and control of keys, tools, weapons, and equipment.
  • Ensures adherence to institutional policies and regulations.
  • Maintains order and security in designated areas in accordance with relevant guidelines and laws.
  • May conduct disciplinary hearings and monitor the behavior of youth offenders to prevent incidents.
  • Assists in the training and onboarding of junior correctional security personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Certification as a Juvenile Correctional Officer by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council
  • At least one year of experience in a Juvenile Justice environment
  • Completion of one or more years of college education

Military Salary Increase Incentive:

  • 2.5% for one year of active duty service
  • 5% for two years of active duty service
  • 7.5% for three years of active duty service
  • 10% for four or more years of active duty service

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, current and valid Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and one year of experience at the lower-level Juvenile Correctional Sergeant position or its equivalent. Additionally, possession of a valid Driver's License is mandatory.
