Key Responsibilities:

This role is pivotal in overseeing the processing of commercial loan requests, leveraging comprehensive knowledge of commercial lending products, documentation, and adherence to regulatory standards.

The Commercial Loan Operations Specialist is expected to maintain a thorough understanding of the policies and procedures governing commercial loans. This position demands exceptional customer service skills to support both internal teams and external commercial clients.

Core Duties:
  • Credit Management: Uphold and comply with the established Loan Policy and Procedures.
  • Service Excellence: Communicate with Commercial Loan Officers regarding outstanding items necessary for file processing in accordance with set policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Documentation Preparation: Retrieve credit reports, flood certifications, and coordinate title work with legal professionals. Ensure timely preparation of loan documents for closings and verify the completeness of loan packages prior to closing.
  • Loan Operations: Scrutinize loan documents to confirm all required signatures are present, complete a loan documentation checklist, and enter the loan into the Core system. Review the Core system for accuracy and complete a verification checklist.
  • Payment Processing: Manage postings of payments, draws, and principal reductions. Handle loan payoffs and participation loan processing.
  • General Ledger Balancing: Conduct daily balancing of the Loan General Ledger as assigned.
  • Collateral Management: Process signed documents for timely recording and prepare loan packages for imaging. Ensure all documentation is accurately imaged and stored in the Synergy Imaging system.
  • Loan Monitoring: Oversee loans for correct coding and servicing, process paid loans, and cancel any necessary recorded documentation.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational and communication skills, adhering to policies and procedures while completing administrative tasks accurately and punctually.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering policies relevant to this role.
  • Assist in training new team members on loan processing and support updates in relevant administrative platforms.
  • Participate in core issue resolution, including maintenance and billing corrections.
  • Review daily reports and maintain familiarity with compliance requirements set forth by federal regulations.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial loan processing and operations within a credit union or financial institution.
  • Proficient understanding of commercial loan documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong phone etiquette and proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships within the team.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
