About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Director to join our team in West Houston, TX. As a key member of our School Engagement team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating programs to raise funds and promote our lifesaving mission in local schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge / American Heart Challenge programs with school-based coordinators to raise funds through educational fundraising programs.
  • Sell our mission to local schools through prospecting and securing school participation, providing tools and training to help schools establish and meet their fundraising goals.
  • Present program information at school assembly events to teach about the Association and the program.
  • Achieve income and school recruitment goals through the management of existing customers and school accounts, and prospecting and cultivating new school accounts.
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement activities and resources necessary to achieve campaign goals and fundraising objectives in the assigned territory.
  • Maintain and track all related fundraising data.
  • Recruit volunteers to develop and manage school-wide events, building new relationships and providing ongoing support to volunteers in each school.
  • Partner with school district employees to support wellness programs and fundraise for the Association, working with other School Engagement staff for implementation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type of experience.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, demonstrated by the ability to organize, plan, implement, and evaluate.
  • Demonstrated community organizational skills with the ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the willingness to work with all social strata, occupations, and a diverse set of backgrounds.
  • Presentation skills for small and large groups.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
