Job Summary

Rice University seeks a seasoned fundraising professional to join its Development Office as a Director of Development – Parents and Families. This strategic leader will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects from parents of current and former students, with a focus on securing gifts at the $100K to $4.9M level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Identify fundraising priorities and devise plans and strategies to accomplish goals.
  • Collaborate with faculty and development colleagues in support of fundraising initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with senior administration to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related professional fundraising experience at the $50K level with demonstrated success of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major individual gifts.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Individual major gift fundraising experience at Rice University or a complex higher education institution.
  • Experience working as a regional major gift officer or in parent fundraising.
  • Experience working in a capital campaign and securing commitments involving gift planning.
