Position Summary:
The Comet Department Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the CoMET unit, ensuring adherence to established corporate policies and guidelines. This position involves nurturing client relationships and enhancing operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of approximately 5 to 6 direct reports in the materials testing sector.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with other department managers to secure additional personnel and resources.
  • Support project managers in business development efforts and client engagements.
  • Monitor expenses and manage the budget for the CoMET team.
  • Assist with escalations and manage accounts receivable.
  • Conduct monthly forecasting to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process for the CoMET unit.

Required Software Proficiency:
Experience with CAD and Smartsheets is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 9 years of experience in Geotechnical or Construction Materials Engineering.
  • Possession of a PE License is mandatory.
  • Potential for advancement into a Vice President role or the ability to manage both the Department Manager and Vice President responsibilities with a competitive salary.
