Role Summary: The On Call Learning Engagement Assistant plays a vital role in the Exhibitions Department, enhancing visitor interactions through educational programming and guided tours. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering inclusive and engaging learning experiences for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate tours and interactive learning sessions, including science discussions and hands-on activities.
  • Conduct evaluations of programs and visitor interactions, ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to established protocols.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning in areas such as science communication and museum education.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude while engaging with staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Regular attendance is essential, with flexibility required for evening and weekend shifts.
  • Embrace the mission of connecting people with plants, particularly those native to the Rocky Mountain region.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and group presentations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in public engagement.
  • Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of individuals and adapting communication styles as needed.
  • Curiosity and alignment with the Gardens' values of sustainability and diversity.
  • Basic knowledge of botany and ecology is preferred, along with a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility to adapt plans and schedules as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Experience and Education:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with relevant experience in visitor services or educational programming.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is advantageous but not mandatory.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary to various locations, where conditions may differ significantly.
