About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Web Developer to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our computational biology research group, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative web-based solutions to support medical research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop user-friendly frontend interfaces to biomedical research data using modern web technologies, including React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Contribute to the development of web-based documentation, training materials, and user-oriented outreach to demonstrate the lab's research products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Less than one year of experience in software development, with relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with React and JavaScript.
  • Basic familiarity with Python.
  • A willingness to contribute to team projects and share software and data with the community.
  • Experience with git and GitHub.
  • Experience and understanding of genome biology.
  • Experience with static website deployments and cloud services.
  • Experience or interest in machine learning approaches used in natural language processing.
Compensation and Benefits
