Additionally, the specialist is tasked with verifying that uninsured patients are appropriately authorized for services. Educational Requirements A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Relevant Experience 1-2 years of experience in registration within a hospital, medical office, or insurance environment is preferred. Familiarity with health insurance benefits is also preferred. Licensure & Certification No specific licenses or certifications are required. Key Responsibilities - Achieve departmental production and quality benchmarks. - Accurately select the appropriate insurance/payer codes in the system according to established protocols. - Ensure the legibility of scanned insurance cards. - Complete all insurance and subscriber information accurately. - Review previously obtained eligibility and benefit details to ascertain patient financial responsibilities. - Confirm insurance coverage and benefits when necessary. - Clearly explain coverage details to patients and collect due amounts. - Provide exceptional customer service and assist patients in resolving account-related inquiries.
