Radiology Imaging Specialists at Philip Health Services are responsible for maintaining and operating diagnostic imaging equipment and supplies to demonstrate body parts for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Medical imaging and direct patient care
Responsibility Statement:
Determine patients' x-ray and/or Computed Tomography (CT) needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians, per Radiology protocols
Specific Performance Standards:
- Position x-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
- Position CT equipment and adjust controls to provide image quality and limit radiation exposure.
- Position patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician.
- Process radiographs using computed or digital radiography methods.
- Perform EKG's on patients and transmit studies for interpretation.
- Prepare and set up exam rooms for patient.
Responsibility Statement:
Must maintain proper function of radiology equipment and follow safety precautions when performing task and using radiology equipment.
Specific Performance Standards:
- Make exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
- Maintains, cleans, and uses the equipment properly and performs periodic maintenance.
- Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.

Requirements:
- An Associates or Bachelor's degree in Radiography or Radiologic Sciences is preferred.
- One year of CT experience is preferred.
- Post-primary certification in Computed Tomography (CT) is preferred.
- Must have certification and registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or be able to work towards obtaining certification.
- Certified and up to date in Basic Life Support
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work on call, when needed, to ensure 24 hour coverage of department.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays, to ensure 24 hour coverage of department.
- Confidentiality must be maintained in working with medical and patient information.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical Demands, Strength rating:
o Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Finger Dexterity and Repetitive Motion:
o Typing/keying comprises a significant amount of work function for this position substantial movements of the wrists, hands, or fingers.
- Vision and Hearing: Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.
