Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and charismatic Cocktail Server to join our team at The Inn at Little Washington, a renowned Relais & Châteaux property. As a key member of our food and beverage team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist guests with beverage menu items, providing informative and helpful guidance.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of beverage lists, menu items, and preparation methods.
  • Ensure all safety and sanitation policies are followed when handling food and beverage.
  • Maintain the highest standards of service, adhering to Forbes standards.
  • Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
Requirements
  • Essential skills include the ability to communicate effectively in English, provide legible communication, and compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to think clearly and remain calm under pressure, making sound and logical decisions quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize service requirements at all tables in assigned stations.
  • Ability to focus on attention to details and suggestively sell menu items, beverages, and wines.
  • Ability to input and access information in POS systems.
  • Ability to exert physical effort in transporting equipment and wares.
  • Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
  • Ability to anticipate and interpret guests' service needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the local geographic area, competitors, and business trends.
  • Knowledge of gourmet food and beverage background and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and evenings.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent need to perform physical activities such as reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
  • Constant need to perform physical activities such as grasping, turning, and finger dexterity.
  • Frequent need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Vision requirements include frequently seeing small details and things clearly beyond arms' reach.
Qualifications
  • Passion for hospitality and a desire to grow within the company.
  • Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Minimum 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of prior experience working in the food and beverage area, in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to a high standard.
  • The capability to meet the physical and scheduling demands of the position, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods, and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
