Position Overview: The CNC Programming Specialist is responsible for utilizing optical programming equipment to create numerical control (NC) tape programs essential for operating NC machine tools in various manufacturing processes such as drilling, milling, routing, and notching. This role requires a thorough analysis of technical drawings, specifications, and PCM's to extract necessary program input data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate technical drawings and specifications to identify program input requirements.
  • Digitize full-scale mylars as needed for accurate programming.
  • Develop 3D models from 2D data to enhance manufacturing precision.
  • Utilize Mastercam to design machine tool paths, adhering to established guidelines for tool speed and efficiency.
  • Input additional parameters including tool size, machine feed rates, and starting coordinates.
  • Validate tool paths using CAD systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Formulate manufacturing processes that take into account holding and cutting forces.
  • Design and document work holding tools to optimize production.

Qualifications:

  • Education: An Associate's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to perform calculations and apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Database, Design, Development, and Manufacturing software, as well as Excel and Word.
  • Experience: Familiarity with Mastercam modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Proficient in converting Full-Scale PCM Mylar to AutoCAD and experienced in 3D modeling with AutoCAD.
