Mainframe Systems Programmer Job Description

At Ensono, we are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support for ongoing projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other system software. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and debugging of systems software, as well as researching and evaluating new software and hardware products. Additionally, you will assist team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution, and monitor and tune systems software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for ongoing projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other system software.
  • Maintain and debug systems software.
  • Research and evaluate new software and hardware products.
  • Assist team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution.
  • Monitor and tune systems software.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing a team within a mainframe environment within a large enterprise or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of z/OS.
  • Advanced knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL.
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix System Services (USS) file system management and security.
  • Experience installing software within Unix System Services (USS).
