Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Signal Processing Scientist to contribute to innovative projects in the field of underwater acoustics.

Ideal candidates will possess a robust background in the principles of underwater acoustics, modeling techniques, detection and estimation methodologies, as well as experience with signal processing algorithms related to SONAR, RADAR, or Digital Communications.

This position involves collaboration with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams focused on developing advanced systems to address national security challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and implement real-time signal processing software.
- Conduct detailed analysis of complex datasets, including diagnostics and forensics.
- Design and create applications and tools for system planning and acoustic performance assessment.
- Potentially lead technical projects, ensuring integration and testing meet customer requirements.
- Engage in hands-on testing of technologies in real-world environments.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong expertise in digital signal processing, including detection and estimation theory, optimization techniques, and adaptive beamforming.
  • Proficient in MATLAB, with additional experience in Python and C/C++ considered a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of undersea acoustic physics and signal propagation.
  • Familiarity with acoustic modeling software such as CASS/GRAB, Bellhop, and SST.
  • Experience in systems integration and performance evaluation in both laboratory and field settings.

Educational Qualifications:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics, accompanied by 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Preferred:
Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics, with 2+ years of pertinent engineering experience.
