The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in underwater acoustics, including physics and modeling, detection and estimation theory, stochastic processes, and signal processing algorithms related to SONAR, RADAR, or Digital Communications.
This position involves collaboration with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams to develop advanced systems addressing critical national security issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and implement real-time signal processing software.
- Conduct detailed post-processing of complex datasets, including diagnostics and forensic analysis of observed phenomena.
- Design and create applications and tools for system planning and acoustic performance modeling.
- Potentially lead technical projects and engage in customer-facing roles, including hands-on testing of technologies in marine environments.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong expertise in digital signal processing fundamentals: detection and estimation theory, constrained optimization, adaptive beamforming, and Kalman filtering.
- Proficient in MATLAB; familiarity with Python and C/C++ is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of undersea acoustic physics, signal propagation, and noise characteristics.
- Experience with acoustic modeling software such as CASS/GRAB, Bellhop, and SST.
- Proven track record in systems integration and performance evaluation in both laboratory and marine settings.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics, along with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Preferred:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Applied Physics, with 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
