Accounting Specialist Job Description

Missoula County, MT is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for processing and reporting accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting for Partnership Health Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and code claims, scan into database, and enter into CSA.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and packing slips when processing claims.
  • Assist department managers with the preparation of purchase orders, claims, and travel advances.
  • Process claim checks from the county, scan into PHC data base, and mail out with a vendor copy biweekly.
  • Collect, process, and balance daily deposits.
  • Prepare daily cash journal entry for Missoula County Treasurer's Department.
  • Receive NSF check information, correspond with collection agency, and set up billing alerts in PHC's clinic and pharmacy software.
  • Execute detailed procedures to calculate and process PHC payroll documents using two time keeping systems.
  • Enter cost center coding, staff schedules, and all relevant employee information into the system.
  • Closely track paid leave hours available on accrual reports with employee requests and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare payroll reports for supervisors and grant reporting purposes.
  • Process employee claims for Continuing Education (CE) expenses, track provider CE hours, and maintain balances of CE hours in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Prepare invoices for outside agencies for reimbursement of employee wages.
  • Review monthly labs to ensure patient bills are correct, add missing labs to patient accounts, make slide balance adjustments, and re-bill for insurance.
  • Review claims and make adjustments in eClinical Works that effect grants received by PHC.
  • Review claim forms monthly and reclassify appropriate clinic charges to grant expense accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedule, conduct periodic audits, and tag equipment.
  • Prepare work papers as requested for annual audit.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or a Certificate in Accounting from an accredited technical school.
  • Two years of accounting experience, with health care or governmental accounting experience desired.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test.
