Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Engineering Department at Hampton Inn Harrisonburg - University. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our hotel's facilities, equipment, and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Management: Inspect and monitor buildings, equipment, and grounds to determine maintenance and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Ensure accurate record keeping for the Preventative Maintenance program via EMPOWER / Guest Experience (GXP) software to guarantee a brand standard acceptable score on the MHR BSA audit.
  • Team Leadership: Develop work procedures, assign personnel, and provide training to ensure the best services and productivity.
  • Cost Management: Prepare and submit cost estimates and repair options, including suggestions for feasibility, logical solutions, and actual needs of a departmental maintenance request.
  • Vendor Management: Contact contractors, craftsmen, vendors, suppliers, and equipment technical support departments to ensure best prices, quality, and warranties for purchases made.
  • Emergency Response: Conduct fire safety training, oversee fire emergencies until the fire department arrives, and coordinate periodic fire drills.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure that all staff members are properly trained and maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in handling emergencies to protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or work equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience in advanced maintenance skills and aptitude, plus advanced skills in all aspects of running an engineering department, including modern building controls and maintenance.
  • Skills: Computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and experience with hotel systems such as MICROS.
  • Physical Demands: Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds, push/pull carts and other equipment up to 150 pounds, and endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Communication: Good understanding of the English language, good communication skills both written and verbal, and ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers.
