Clinical Exercise Specialist

Position Overview:
The role involves executing all essential tasks related to the management and secure execution of stress tests for patients, including Nuclear, Stress Echo, and Treadmill assessments. Additionally, this position encompasses patient follow-up on completed reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates the patient's medical history prior to testing by utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Investigates and documents pertinent patient information, including current medications and any limitations that may affect safe Nuclear cardiac stress testing.
- Prepares patients for Nuclear Stress testing through conducting initial interviews, measuring vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate, performing baseline EKGs, and assessing heart and lung sounds.
- Oversees stress tests, including those involving nuclear medicine and Stress Echo procedures.
- Identifies physical constraints and symptoms that may restrict the patient's exercise capabilities.
- Alerts the physician to critical irregularities during the stress testing process.
- Communicates test outcomes to both patients and referring physicians.
- Responds effectively to life-threatening situations by providing assistance to nursing and medical personnel during emergencies.
- Assists in the operation of external defibrillators and suction devices as directed by medical staff during emergency situations.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the safe administration of all protocols related to treadmill and pharmacological stress testing. Operates and troubleshoots EKG machines and treadmill stress equipment competently.
- Possesses an understanding of the pharmacological impacts of medications used in nuclear stress testing and the necessary antidotes that may be required.
- Has knowledge of radioactive decay and the biodistribution of radiopharmaceuticals in relation to nuclear stress testing.
- Complies with all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
- Participates in job-related training sessions and seminars as needed. Completes tasks related to accreditation as assigned.
- Holds a minimum of a Master’s degree in Exercise Science or an equivalent field.
- Possesses knowledge of Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology, Coronary Artery Disease, and Coronary Risk Factors.
- Exhibits skill in operating stress testing equipment and recognizing both normal and abnormal EKG patterns.
- Maintains Continuing Education as required by accreditation and licensing authorities.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Act 34 clearance with renewal.
