Position Overview:

The role encompasses all essential responsibilities associated with the care and secure execution of assessments for patients undergoing various forms of Stress Testing, including Nuclear, Stress Echo, and Treadmill evaluations. Additionally, this position will involve follow-up with patients regarding finalized test reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates the clinical history of patients prior to testing by utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Conducts thorough research and documentation of patient history, including current medications and any pertinent limitations that may affect the safety of Nuclear cardiac stress testing.
  • Prepares patients for Nuclear Stress testing through a comprehensive interview process, measuring vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate, performing baseline EKGs, and assessing heart and lung sounds.
  • Monitors the progress of stress tests, including those involving nuclear medicine and Stress Echo procedures.
  • Identifies the physical limitations of patients and recognizes symptoms that may restrict their exercise capacity.
  • Alerts the supervising physician to any critical abnormalities observed during the stress testing process.
  • Effectively communicates test outcomes to both patients and referring physicians.
  • Responds appropriately to life-threatening situations by providing assistance to nursing and medical personnel during emergencies.
  • Assists in the operation of external defibrillators and suction devices as directed by nursing or medical staff during emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the safe execution of all protocols related to treadmill and pharmacological stress testing. Capable of operating and troubleshooting EKG machines and treadmill stress testing equipment.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of the pharmacological effects of medications used in nuclear stress testing, including potential antidotes that may be necessary.
  • Understands the principles of radioactive decay and the biodistribution of radiopharmaceuticals as they pertain to nuclear stress testing.
  • Complies with all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
  • Participates in job-related training sessions and seminars as required. Completes accreditation-related tasks as assigned.
  • Holds a minimum of a Master’s degree in Exercise Science or an equivalent field.
  • Possesses knowledge of Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology, Coronary Artery Disease, and associated risk factors.
  • Skilled in operating stress testing equipment and in interpreting normal and abnormal EKG readings.
  • Maintains Continuing Education as mandated by relevant accreditation and licensing bodies.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance with renewal.
