Position Overview

The Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and management of commercial and industrial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to specified designs.

This pivotal position involves coordinating efforts among various trades and subcontractors, taking charge of productivity and compliance with contractual obligations. The Superintendent fosters continuous communication with the design team, Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to guarantee adherence to plans, specifications, and timelines. Responsibilities may include providing estimating support, identifying design flaws, and resolving issues proactively to prevent budget overruns. The role also requires vigilance regarding safety protocols, recognizing hazards, and implementing necessary corrective measures.

The standard working hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the expectation of additional hours, including weekends, to accommodate project demands and emergencies. Most projects are situated within a 100-mile radius of the office.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a commercial construction setting, including at least 5 years as a Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects valued at $5M or more.
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and implement construction documents effectively.
  • Competence in calculating accurate quantities of concrete, stone, and lumber for projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client focus and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient supervisory skills with the capability to directly oversee employees and subcontractors.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
