Position Overview

The Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and coordination of commercial and industrial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to specified designs.

This pivotal position involves managing project teams, collaborating with various trades and subcontractors, and ensuring productivity and compliance with contractual obligations. The Superintendent maintains ongoing communication with the design team, Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and timelines. Responsibilities may include providing estimating support, identifying design flaws, and resolving issues before they lead to increased costs. A strong focus on safety is essential, including recognizing hazards and implementing corrective measures.

The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with the expectation of additional hours, including weekends, to meet project demands and address site emergencies. Most projects are situated within a 100-mile radius of the Nashville office.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, including at least 5 years in a Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent role
  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects valued at $5 million or more
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret and implement construction documents effectively
  • Competence in calculating material quantities for projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on client relations and confidentiality
  • Proficient supervisory skills to manage employees and subcontractors
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam, and Procore
  • A valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record
