Position Summary:
The Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding patient service, both in person and via telephone. This role involves interviewing patients and their representatives to gather complete and accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information necessary for billing and account management. The Coordinator will perform various clerical and patient service tasks essential for maintaining an efficient operational flow within the medical office. Duties may include managing multiple phone lines, scheduling appointments, assisting with medical records requests, entering patient information, and processing payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy.
- Confirm insurance details and collect copays, co-insurance, and outstanding balances.
- Ensure all patient intake forms are completed and signed.
- Manage patient communication channels, including phone lines and messaging portals.
- Schedule appointments efficiently.
- Process medical record requests in accordance with established policies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure an optimal patient experience.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate.
Required Skills:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- At least 2 years of experience with healthcare insurance.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 30 WPM.
- A strong desire to assist others and provide excellent customer service.
- Highly dependable and organized.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- A polished and professional appearance.
- The ability to learn quickly, retain training, problem-solve, and think independently.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with medical terminology.
