Job Summary and Qualifications

The field of Respiratory Therapy involves the assessment and treatment of patients experiencing both acute and chronic issues related to the cardiopulmonary system. Today's Respiratory Therapists carry significant responsibilities in patient care and are essential members of the healthcare team. A thorough understanding of the pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system and the intricate procedures necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment is crucial, catering to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Under the general supervision of the RT Supervisor or Team Leader, you will execute diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as prescribed by a physician
  • Your responsibilities will encompass medical gas administration, aerosol therapy, obtaining and analyzing blood specimens, conducting patient testing, operating and maintaining various types of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment, providing mechanical ventilation, maintaining artificial airways, assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, delivering patient education, and monitoring equipment and patient responses to therapy
  • Additional duties will include completing documentation for in-patient and departmental records, cleaning equipment, and upholding safety and infection control protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution is required
  • A current Respiratory Therapist license from the Kansas State Board for Respiratory Care is mandatory
  • NBRC RRT certification is required
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association is necessary
  • ACLS and NRP certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • One year of recent clinical experience is preferred
