Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian II to join our team in the Department of Food & Nutrition. As a Clinical Dietitian II, you will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling to pediatric neurology patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop nutritional components of care and participate in health team rounds and short-term projects. Additionally, you will educate students with on-the-job training, evaluate students, and provide necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess nutritional status and instruct/counsel on appropriate diet
  • Participate as an active member of departmental/hospital committees concerning problems affecting patients' food habits and needs
  • Participate in health team rounds and short-term projects
  • Educate students with on-the-job training, evaluate students, and provide necessary support and assistance
  • Conduct peer chart reviews/audits for Dietitian I
  • Seek opportunities to enhance one's own professional knowledge, skills, and development
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of clinical nutrition experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient setting
  • Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
Certifications
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
