Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling to pediatric neurology and ketogenic outpatient and inpatient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for pediatric neurology and ketogenic populations
  • Teach dietetic interns and participate in multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop nutritional components of care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles
  • Provide quality patient care, including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans
  • Educate students with on-the-job training and evaluate their performance
  • Assess nutrition status and instruct/counsel patients on appropriate diets
  • Participate in health team rounds and assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects
  • Perform special projects as assigned and participate in departmental/hospital committees
  • Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress and control costs
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public
  • Functional supervision is exercised over Diet Clerks and assist other dietitians as needed
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure by the State of Iowa
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting
  • Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
