POSITION SUMMARY
Public Safety Officers will patrol designated areas on bicycle to deter undesirable behavior and remain vigilant for any suspicious activities, while offering assistance, information, and directions to local workers, residents, and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* DETERRENCE - Navigate through assigned zones to deter unwanted behavior through a visible uniformed presence.
* OBSERVATION AND REPORTING - Remain alert for any suspicious activities or behaviors while on patrol and report findings to local authorities using established communication channels. Must be capable of providing accurate descriptions of individuals, vehicles, and other relevant identifiers.
* INTERVENTION - Officers will courteously and firmly address individuals engaging in low-level quality of life offenses, such as aggressive or non-aggressive panhandling, loitering, and disruptive conduct.
* CUSTOMER SERVICE - While on patrol, actively engage with pedestrians by offering friendly greetings and assisting visitors with directions, city information, or recommendations.
* COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - Officers will be tasked with visiting local businesses to share information and establish professional relationships on behalf of the organization.
* DOCUMENTATION - Must be proficient in creating written Incident Reports and Property Condition Reports. Additionally, Officers are required to submit a daily written report to summarize shift activities.
* PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT - Must uphold a positive and professional atmosphere in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and the overall standards of Block By Block.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must possess the physical ability to ride a bicycle or walk continuously during an eight-hour shift, with standard breaks (two fifteen-minute breaks and one thirty-minute meal break).
* Must be capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions with provided gear for inclement weather.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
* Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English to create basic reports.
