Systems Administrator at American Engineering Testing Inc

The role of the Systems Administrator is pivotal in ensuring the stability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure, which encompasses both cloud-based and on-premises systems at American Engineering Testing Inc. This position is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of interconnected systems, resolving technical issues, and ensuring seamless operations. Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, this role is instrumental in the design and management of an expanded infrastructure that includes switching, firewalls, servers, security solutions, and virtualization technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and support backend infrastructure and business systems.
  • Assist in the development of Azure-based solutions and virtualization technologies.
  • Oversee formal change management processes related to infrastructure and security.
  • Manage security platforms and associated services.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents effectively.
  • Provide guidance to leadership on vulnerabilities and support mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and partners.
  • Maintain and monitor backend systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support backup and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and solutions.
  • Execute necessary tasks to align with company objectives.
Qualifications and Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing Office 365 and Azure infrastructure.
  • Proficient in networking, switching, firewalls, and access points.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies in both cloud and on-premises settings.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with change management processes.
  • Experience collaborating with both internal and external teams.

  • Proficient in leading various initiatives and managing projects and budgets.
  • Adept at translating requirements into functional specifications.
  • Capable of facilitating planning and design sessions.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

Work Environment

This position operates within a professional office environment, with occasional fieldwork.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to communicate effectively, hear, stand, walk, handle objects, and lift up to 25 pounds.
