TYPE OF POSITION:
Hourly position with variable hours based on operational requirements - Current vacancy available, final placement determined by district needs.

REPORTS TO:
Director of Facilities Management, School Administrators

SUPERVISION:
Custodial team, Engineering personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory high school diploma or equivalent; First Class license with capability to obtain Chief's license within two years. Preferred qualifications include a Chief's license and seven years of relevant experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Facilities Engineer serves as a primary contact for students, educators, support staff, colleagues, and parents. This role encompasses overseeing the daily operations of the facility, including mechanical systems, cleanliness, grounds maintenance, community education events, special activities, energy management, security, safety, and other assigned responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Customer Support: Aid in executing cleaning initiatives developed through workflow assessments.
  • Event Coordination: Collaborate with building leaders and support staff to schedule and prepare for special events.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside educators and support personnel to further the district's mission.
  • Performance Management: Assist in implementing performance evaluations.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee custodial personnel and engage with district resources to maintain the facility and grounds.
  • Daily Operations: Direct custodial cleaning tasks; assist teachers and staff with furniture relocation and supply distribution.
  • Maintenance Responsibilities: Clean and maintain the school facility, conduct repairs on plumbing, heating, and electrical systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Carry out preventative maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Oversee grounds upkeep, clean cafeteria equipment, and ensure facility security.
  • Emergency Management: Manage cleanup of body fluids, fire safety protocols, alarm systems, and snow removal efforts.
  • Administrative Duties: Provide administrative support, monitor timekeeping records, maintain records related to boilers and mechanical systems, and oversee supply inventory.
  • Contractor Coordination: Work with contractor personnel, adhere to data privacy standards, and be available for emergency equipment failures or security concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The execution of essential job functions necessitates the following physical capabilities:
Continuous standing and walking, frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, sitting, and visual and auditory engagement.
Regular lifting and/or moving of equipment, supplies, and furniture, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Frequent pushing and pulling, handling various chemicals, and utilizing personal protective equipment.
Engagement with various chemicals while adhering to Material Safety Data Sheets.
Utilization of personal protective equipment when dealing with bodily fluids and working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION DEFINITIONS:

Special License:
Employee must successfully complete the State license examination.

Second Class:
Employee must possess a Special License and work under a First Class operator, or higher, for a minimum of one year.

First Class:
Employee must hold a Second Class license, or higher, and work under a First Class operator for an additional two years.
Chief's License: Employee must have a First Class license, or higher, and work under a Chief operator for an additional two years.

Certified Pool Operator:
Employee must complete 16 hours of training every five years; the cost of training and certification shall be covered by the School District.
