AECOM is looking for a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join our Sacramento, CA office, focusing on civil engineering and design for substantial water infrastructure initiatives.

This role will require collaboration with a diverse team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental specialists, geologists, and environmental scientists to plan, design, and execute large-scale water infrastructure projects.

Our services range from environmental planning and detailed design to construction management and operational support, catering to a broad spectrum of public and private sector clients.

Our public sector projects vary from small rural communities to major urban centers, while our private sector work spans multiple industries, including oil and gas, chemicals, energy, food and beverage, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee subsurface investigations, including test pits, drilling exploration boreholes, and advancing CPTs across various locations.
  • Review and assign geotechnical samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Inspect and supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and foundation assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Review applicable regulations and standards for technical studies and project design.
  • Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with designers and drafting teams to produce conceptual and as-built drawings.
  • Compile and document geotechnical data using software tools such as Excel, Word, gINT, and AutoCAD.
  • Implement QA/QC protocols for personal and team outputs.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and clients.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
Experience in the planning, design, and construction of water resource projects, including pump stations, dams, levees, flood control systems, pipelines, and earthmoving operations.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software such as SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, and L-Pile.

Additional Information

Exempt Position:
The compensation rate in Sacramento, CA will be determined based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $110,000. AECOM offers a comprehensive benefits program to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
