About the Opportunity

The Offshore Wind Automation and Controls Engineer is responsible for integration and technical support of the Mission Automation System (MAS) with other subsystems including the fall pipe system, survey system and the Dynamic Positioning (DP) system of the Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV).

Key Responsibilities
  • Integration of subsystems and their inputs by working with other disciplines and subcontractors into the MAS to control subsea rock installation equipment.
  • Convert complex issues and operational needs for rock installation into technical specifications and draw up functional descriptions for the control systems.
  • Analyze existing and new automation software and research, implement and test improvements through vendor management.
  • Have base knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs for various vessel controls systems.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to meet design requirements of the automation system.
  • Solve automation system issues either onboard the vessel or through remote support with on-board technicians.
  • Work with OEM to maintain and improve the MAS software & hardware as needed.
  • Supervise and attend automation and controls systems FAT's/commissioning as needed and document the same, will require some travel both domestic and international
  • Assist and coordinate troubleshooting efforts with controls systems with SRIV crew, Fleet Engineering, and OEM support.
  • Train technicians, crew, and Project team members from the SRIV on the automation system using the simulator.
About the Candidate

Must be driven and able to function independently within their own field. They must be open to input and able to collaborate effectively with other disciplines thanks to your communication skills.

Professional Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Electrical Automation, Electrical & Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in software development in Marine or Industrial Automation and Process control systems
  • Technical knowledge of controls systems such as PLC controls, SCADA systems, hydraulics and other relevant technologies that are used to monitor and manage industrial processes
  • Design and Programming experience with PLC systems.
  • Design and Programming experience with SCADA and DCS based applications. Proficiency in analyzing and describing automation processes.
  • Experience with automation systems and controls systems both in design and technical support of each.
  • Understanding of the common industrial automation standards and guidelines (i.e. ISA/IEC).
  • Experience in European Offshore Wind development is a plus.
  • Experience with Subsea Rock Installation processes and controls systems is a plus.
  • Ability to travel offshore and internationally.
  • Hands-on experience using drawing design (i.e., AutoCAD) software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and communications kills.
  • Willing to learn and work within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, make decisions and develop recommendations.
