We are currently seeking a Part-Time Fire Protection & Technical Safety Offshore Wind Engineering Intern to support our operations. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree in relevant fields.

Your Contributions
  • Assist in various engineering tasks aimed at enhancing technical, social, and ethical competencies.
  • Acquire foundational knowledge in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar Engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in project research, fieldwork, and initial design calculations and assessments.
  • Contribute to the preparation of final design documents, special provisions, and cost estimations.
  • Help in gathering and organizing project documentation.
  • Complete training related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and relevant policies.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by business needs.
  • Please note that this internship does not include relocation or housing assistance.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited program for Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of December 2024 or later.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrated interest in Fire Protection & Technical Safety Offshore Wind Engineering or a related area, with a strong desire to develop skills relevant to WSP's projects.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to follow directions from supervisors and mentors to execute project tasks effectively.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and related tools.
  • History of maintaining workplace safety and compliance with WSP's health, safety, and conduct policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of December 2024 or later.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous internship experience and leadership roles in academic settings.
  • Relevant professional certifications or licenses.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
Compensation

Expected Salary: $30.00 per hour.

WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the anticipated pay for the successful candidate, considering their education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The final compensation may vary based on these factors.
