Role Overview

As a Principal Engineer within the Global Facilities Technology Team, specializing in Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), Industrial Waste Water Treatment (IWT), and Wastewater Reclamation Systems, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-tier engineering services and specifications. Your responsibilities will encompass the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of systems critical to semiconductor manufacturing across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network. You will engage in capacity and scenario planning while assessing the impact of modifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Design and Planning:
    • Craft system designs that ensure safe operations and maintenance.
    • Develop, review, and uphold equipment and component specifications and standards.
    • Guarantee material compatibility and adherence to relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
    • Analyze capacity planning databases to validate utilization and diversity factor assumptions.
    • Review and advise on periodic system status presentations.
    • Assist sites in evaluating system and distribution capacity impacts based on requested scenario changes.
    • Consult on scope for facilities infrastructure modifications.
  • Project Support:
    • Provide Micron specifications to design firms and review detailed designs for new facilities infrastructure.
    • Support cost and schedule estimates, ensuring justifications for approval.
    • Coordinate consultant resources effectively.
    • Maintain clear communication with local facilities, design, construction, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
    • Oversee timely reviews of design packages, offering detailed feedback as necessary.
    • Collaborate with relevant personnel to resolve issues or implement corrections.
    • Ensure that project scope aligns with requestor needs and follow change management procedures.
    • Supervise progress and provide engineering support during construction as needed.
  • Technical Leadership and Expertise:
    • Offer consultation and support to Operations, Maintenance, and Manufacturing as a Technical Field Authority.
    • Analyze system designs for enhancements that improve performance, efficiency, and cost savings.
    • Assist sites with problem analysis using standardized tools and methodologies.
    • Provide technical leadership to the Procurement group regarding vendor qualifications and negotiations.
    • Conduct risk and failure mode analyses to mitigate potential issues.
    • Benchmark engineering and design best practices within and outside Micron.
    • Maintain Corporate Facility of Record (FOR) Standards for your team.
    • Stay updated on relevant domain knowledge and equipment support protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Ultra Pure Water and/or Industrial Waste Water Treatment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; proficiency in English is required.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to travel internationally up to 75% of the time.
