As a Principal Engineer within the Global Facilities Technology Team, specializing in Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), Industrial Waste Water Treatment (IWT), and Wastewater Reclamation Systems, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-caliber engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of your specialized area. Your contributions will support specific Facilities Systems crucial to semiconductor manufacturing across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network. You will engage in capacity and scenario planning while assessing the impact of changes. In this capacity, you will act as a key authority for the Facilities Teams and Manufacturing sites throughout all stages of design, construction, installation, start-up, operations, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, regulatory, and code standards.

System and Building Design and Planning
  • Develop system designs that prioritize safe operations and maintenance.
  • Establish, review, and uphold equipment and component specifications and standards for the organization.
  • Ensure compatibility of materials.
  • Align designs with all relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluate capacity planning databases, including Base Build capacities, POC assignments, and actual field conditions, validating utilization and diversity factor assumptions.
  • Review and advise on periodic system status presentations covering system capacity, actual load, and projected loads based on approved scenarios, key accomplishments, and challenges.
  • Assist sites in evaluating system and distribution capacity impacts due to scenario changes as requested.
  • Review and provide guidance on the scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications.
Project Support
  • Deliver Micron specifications and standards to Design Firms, reviewing detailed designs and specifications for new facilities infrastructure installations.
  • Support cost and schedule estimates and provide justification for approvals.
  • Oversee and coordinate consultant resources as necessary.
  • Facilitate effective communication with local facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement, and manufacturing collaborators to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensure timely review of design packages, providing detailed feedback and comments as needed.
  • Collaborate with relevant personnel to resolve issues or implement corrections.
  • Confirm that project scope meets the requestor's needs.
  • Adhere to change management procedures.
  • Supervise progress and offer engineering and design support during construction as required.
Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise
  • Provide consultation and support to Operations, Maintenance, and Manufacturing as the Technical Field Authority.
  • Analyze system designs to identify enhancements that yield improved performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings.
  • Assist sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies as requested.
  • Offer technical leadership and support to the Procurement group regarding vendor qualifications, selection, and negotiations as necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments and failure mode effects analysis.
  • Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate associated risks.
  • Benchmark engineering and design best-known methods (BKMs) for Facilities buildings and systems both internally and externally.
  • Maintain and oversee Corporate Facility of Record (FOR) Standards for your team.
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant domain knowledge (chemical theory, instrumentation control theory, high purity principles, etc.).
  • Maintain expertise in equipment support knowledge (reaction modes/mechanisms, hazard protocols, leak detection, etc.).
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Ultra Pure Water and/or Industrial Waste Water Treatment is essential.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively while handling multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong organizational skills and a service-oriented demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; proficiency in English is required.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities systems is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 75% of the time.
