Department: Facilities Engineering and Construction

Role Summary:

The Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer is tasked with developing specifications and standards while collaborating with various engineering teams to ensure quality assurance in control system designs. Key responsibilities include:

Safety & Quality Responsibilities:
  • Complete all mandatory safety training and adhere to Micron's safety protocols.
  • Identify and halt unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
  • Utilize job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for ongoing tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including PPE and chemical safety.
  • Address safety and quality concerns promptly with relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage in the EHS program by reporting any EHS-related issues within 24 hours.
  • Conduct audits and document safety improvements.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as per guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize hazards affecting personnel and the environment.
  • Adhere to change management practices to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency.
  • Review designs to ensure compliance with company and manufacturer standards.
  • Oversee the development of construction specifications and design checklists.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting efforts as needed.
  • Conduct lessons learned sessions to enhance future practices.
Communication & Collaboration:
  • Maintain effective communication with facilities and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions for improving critical metrics.
  • Work with teams to resolve equipment and process challenges.
  • Engage with leadership to establish personal performance goals.
  • Proactively communicate daily priorities and issues to stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, providing relevant technical insights.
  • Gather input for area improvements from team leaders and stakeholders.
  • Communicate changes to equipment and adhere to business change control protocols.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for improvement initiatives.
  • Alert teams to potential issues that could impact operations.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to provide regular updates on project status.
  • Enhance cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignments.
  • Listen to customer feedback to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Translate customer needs into actionable insights.
  • Effectively communicate complex information to various audiences.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Offer feedback on work quality to management.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve overall work quality.
Project Management & Planning:
  • Apply systematic project management methodologies to prioritize and manage projects.
  • Ensure project deliverables are met within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Track project actions and provide escalation paths as necessary.
  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects critical to Micron's operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on project design and coordination.
  • Prepare project scopes with input from relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure project scope aligns with requester needs.
  • Coordinate with external consultants as needed.
  • Lead meetings and follow up on action items.
  • Support the design and specifications for new facility infrastructure.
  • Assist in cost and schedule estimations for project approvals.
  • Review design packages for compliance.
  • Execute designs following standard processes.
  • Adhere to change management protocols.
  • Collaborate with personnel to resolve issues effectively.
  • Support equipment startup and commissioning as required.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making with technical support.
Technical/Data Analysis:
  • Analyze system data to enhance performance and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Provide timely guidance to resolve issues and engage in problem resolution.
  • Support troubleshooting for complex issues and identify root causes.
  • Conduct problem analysis using established methodologies.
  • Assist in risk and failure mode analysis.
  • Mitigate risks by eliminating single points of failure.
  • Offer technical support to various departments to ensure compliance.
  • Identify strategies to streamline maintenance processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance equipment efficiency.
  • Work with manufacturing teams on root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Support corporate initiatives and benchmarking activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Promote a culture of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Apply standard engineering principles in all tasks.
  • Utilize databases for job tracking and engineering data management.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies.
  • Incorporate safety controls in all design processes.
  • Provide technical training to engineers.
  • Develop technical planning and Basis of Design for large projects.
  • Support construction quality assurance for projects.
  • Evaluate cost reduction opportunities for tool installations.
  • Lead supplier quality initiatives.
  • Address technical issues in Facilities Engineering and Construction.
  • Support technology transfer to other sites.
  • Conduct code analysis as required.

Education and Experience:
  • Required: Relevant engineering degree.
  • Preferred: Five or more years of relevant experience.
