Production Team Lead

The Production Lead for the Synergy Flavors OH location is a hands-on position responsible for organizing and managing extraction, blending, and packaging production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and according to company expectations and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Member of the Ohio plant leadership team.
- Participate in objective setting, plan development, and performance review of plant performance.
- People Management: hiring, coaching, training, and developing each member of the team by challenging each member to deliver attainment of production schedules; monitor performance and address performance or behavioral issues as they arise by taking corrective action and working with HR as necessary.
- Develop, monitor, analyze, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/targets.
- Evaluate production-related product holds and find the root cause/solutions.
- Controlling spending in relation to changes in production volume.
- Drive and/or support key initiatives as agreed upon with the Plant Manager.
- Continually support safety record improvement by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety behavior. Will be an integral member of the plant Safety Committee.
- Working closely with the Plant Manager on a day-to-day basis providing immediate feedback on issues affecting Production performance, Production efficiencies, and first-pass Product Quality.
- Leading by example for the Production team by demonstrating a diplomatic, collaborative approach to working with other departments.
- Work closely with Production Scheduling to maximize efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, while delivering on-time products at standards that exceed our customers' expectations.
- Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure complete compliance with established GMP, SQF regulatory practices, and with customer compliance standards. It will be imperative for the Production Lead to be one of the drivers of these processes as the company continues to grow.
- Monitor the performance of direct reports through the established Performance Management Process, providing leadership and developmental guidance as required to support the achievement of objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, industrial management, business, or other related disciplines preferred.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a position of leadership preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of a flavor or food ingredient process manufacturing facility required, including a high level of proficiency with GMP requirements.
- Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement preferred.
- Excellent software aptitude (Microsoft office); experience with manufacturing systems such as ERP systems required, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 preferred.
