Job Description

Bloedel Reserve is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team and play a crucial role in advancing our mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance our financial sustainability, including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving, and membership programs.

The Director of Development will work closely with the President/CEO, staff, and board members to achieve our fundraising goals. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $100,000 - 115,000 annually, depending on the candidate's skills and experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of nonprofit philanthropy experience, with a proven track record in building a culture of philanthropy, strategic planning, and team leadership. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and board members.

Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive strategic fundraising and membership development plans, managing a portfolio of leadership and major gifts donors, and creating and implementing compelling philanthropic cases for support.

The Director of Development will also be responsible for managing the Development Team, which includes a Development Manager and a Development Coordinator, and will work closely with the Leadership Management Team to advance development and membership initiatives.

Essential qualifications include a bachelor's degree from a college or university, with evidence of continuing education through graduate degrees, conferences, seminars, and workshops in fundraising techniques. Demonstrated passion for horticulture, the arts, and/or community involvement is also essential.
