About the Position

The City of Bainbridge Island is seeking a skilled GIS Technician to join our Public Works team. As a GIS Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and updating our electronic maps and associated datasets in GIS databases. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently with moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities

* Analyze, organize, and update mapped asset data in support of Public Works programs
* Support asset management best practices aligned with GIS
* Develop and implement infrastructure asset data management concepts, procedures, and guidelines
* Collaborate with co-workers to ensure consistency and shared understanding of GIS databases

Requirements

* Graduation from high school or equivalent, with two years of college or technical school coursework in geography, engineering, earth sciences, or a related field with specific GIS technology training using ArcGIS software
* Strong knowledge of GIS and Global Positional System (GPS) programs, equipment, and system processes
* Ability to become familiar and keep current with asset management concepts, principles, and practices
