Job Summary

The Assistant Project Accountant will perform a wide range of accounting tasks and administrative support to assist the Project Accountants. This role will require helping the office staff with specific assignments, as needed, and will be responsible for processing miscellaneous invoices, preparing expense reports, and entering workflow for approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process miscellaneous invoices for payment, including scanning, coding, and entering invoices into the system.
  • Prepare American Express and Visa expense reports, and process credit card transactions.
  • Enter workflow and submit for approval to designated project accountant, project team, and departments.
  • Assist in monthly owner billing, including preparing backup documentation as needed.
  • Set up and maintain electronic job files, if required.
  • Assist with project closeout procedures, including collecting and submitting insurance certificates for review.
  • Address contract compliance discrepancies by generating and analyzing non-compliance reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of accounting experience in construction are required.
  • A strong work ethic with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Willingness to be a team player with a client service attitude.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to multitask and problem-solve, and follow through to resolution.
  • Must have the ability to work in a high-volume, heavy deadline-driven environment.
  • Must demonstrate experience performing functions efficiently and accurately with little direct supervision.
  • Should have the ability to develop and maintain a positive effective working relationship with subcontractors, vendors, co-workers, and managers.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
