Job Overview

The role of the Discovery Paralegal encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Evaluating and interpreting requests from clients.
  • Conducting research, locating, and compiling materials responsive to document management system requests, which may involve outreach and informal interviews.
  • Assisting in the preparation of legal declarations.
  • Digitizing paper documents for archival purposes (e.g., .PDF format).
  • Performing responsiveness assessments on both electronic and physical documents.
  • Executing legal privilege evaluations utilizing platforms such as Symantec Clearwell and Adobe Pro with Redax.
  • Analyzing documents and accurately applying deletion codes to various types of privileged information.
  • Reviewing peer submissions for precision and providing constructive feedback to enhance the quality of document review and processing.
  • Facilitating effective teamwork to promote collaboration and informed decision-making.
  • Maintaining organized and precise records of assigned requests, including detailed case notes and utilizing discovery plans and spreadsheets.
  • Preparing electronic and/or physical releases for client distribution.
  • Exhibiting a high level of professionalism and customer service in all interactions.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling tasks to meet project objectives.
  • Coordinating classification reviews with subject matter experts.
  • Collaborating closely with discovery team members on ongoing projects.
  • Acting as a consultant for government personnel regarding privilege application and document production.
  • Providing weekly updates to management and periodic reports to senior legal counsel and other stakeholders.
  • Conducting searches within systems and databases to retrieve relevant documents or files.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Five years of experience as a paralegal.
  • Three years of experience in discovery and e-discovery processes.
  • Two years of experience in conducting privilege and substantive reviews on litigation support projects.
  • One year of experience in reviewing electronic and paper materials for privilege in litigation support contexts.
  • One year of experience using eDiscovery platforms to identify and redact privileged information.
  • One year of experience in researching and drafting responses to interrogatories.
  • One year of experience in document collection and production.
  • One year of experience in driving litigation projects forward in collaboration with clients and attorneys.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven years of paralegal experience.
  • Five years of experience in discovery and e-discovery.
  • Three years of experience in privilege and substantive reviews on litigation support projects.
  • Three years of experience in reviewing electronic and paper materials for privilege.
  • Three years of experience using eDiscovery platforms for privilege identification and redaction.
  • Three years of experience in researching and drafting interrogatory responses.
  • Three years of experience in document collection and production.
  • Three years of experience in managing litigation projects with clients and attorneys.
  • Preferred PLS certification or Associate's degree.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and document management systems.
