Position Summary:
The Experienced Litigation Paralegal role is a full-time, non-exempt position located in Washington, D.C., dedicated to providing essential paralegal assistance to a team of attorneys within the Intellectual Property sector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and writing capabilities, alongside a professional demeanor. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package and fosters a collaborative, team-focused atmosphere. This position necessitates in-office attendance at least three days a week, aligning with attorney schedules, and requires flexibility to accommodate varying demands related to attorney needs, projects, and court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including drafting legal documents, conducting research, reviewing and analyzing case materials, preparing for trials, and providing real-time trial assistance in federal district courts and the ITC.
  • Oversee document filing and retrieval from federal courts, the ITC, and the USPTO.
  • Organize and maintain case documents and deadlines for meetings and court submissions, ensuring timely follow-ups with attorneys.
  • Verify citations, proofread legal documents, and compile necessary exhibits.
  • Manage all case-related materials, including digital files and database applications.
  • Collect, review, and organize documents from clients and opposing parties throughout the discovery phase.
  • Conduct thorough factual research utilizing resources such as Pacer to obtain required information or documents as requested by attorneys.
  • Monitor the progress of case materials and keep counsel updated on docketing.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including managing correspondence, filing emails, and processing service payments.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Accurately track and document time for proper billing of services rendered.
  • Ensure adherence to various regulatory requirements, including ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC, CMS, and others.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree and/or a paralegal certification is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Litigation experience is essential; experience in Intellectual Property litigation is preferred.
  • ITC experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cases for several attorneys concurrently.
  • Outstanding organizational, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Prior experience in trial environments is highly regarded.
  • Must be a resourceful self-starter with a proactive mindset.
  • Confidentiality in handling all business matters is crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and e-discovery tools is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
