Current Opportunity

Position: Legal Assistant
Location: Washington, D.C.
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours/week); Non-Exempt

Role Responsibilities

The Legal Assistant position combines elements of both junior paralegal and legal secretary roles, offering comprehensive administrative and clerical support to legal teams and internal departments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing litigation administrative tasks.
  • Assisting paralegals with fundamental legal functions.
  • Handling various ad hoc litigation assignments.
  • Providing administrative support to other departments as needed.
  • Facilitating effective communication within legal teams and across the firm.
Daily Activities
  • Assisting with the initiation of cases.
  • Managing agreements and contracts for signatures.
  • Coordinating attorney schedules and appointments.
  • Organizing documents and managing files.
  • Drafting correspondence and preparing legal documents.
  • Supporting discovery processes and document reviews.
  • Assisting with court filings and related proceedings.
  • Preparing reports on time and expenses.
  • Organizing meetings and conferences.
  • Assisting with billing and invoicing tasks.
  • Coordinating technology requirements.
Qualifications
  • Essential:
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Passion for public interest law.
