Job Description

The Application Security Lead Analyst will provide application security services to Citi businesses early in the SDLC. This involves working closely with development teams on the latest Application Security tools and processes to integrate security testing. The successful candidate must be an individual who understands modern software development trends, engineering-led software security practices, and keeps up with the ever-evolving cyber security threat landscape.

The primary focus of this role is to address testing needs within development organizations striving for continuous deployment and using automated security tooling, including SAST, DAST, and SCA. Within their leadership role, the individual is expected to train and guide application teams as a hands-on participant.

Responsibilities
  • Early Detection of Vulnerabilities: Proactive identification and mitigation of security risks before they move to the production environment.
  • Perform application security testing on various types of applications, such as web, APIs (REST/SOAP/Microservices), mobile, etc., utilizing Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Interactive Application Security Testing (IAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), and Component Vulnerability Management (CVM).
  • Provide required trainings and guidance to developers to prevent the introduction of vulnerabilities.
  • Guide application teams to proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities during the development phase by utilizing the Application Security Tool Suite in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Continuously evaluate application security practices and implement changes that improve developer security experience, reduce risk, and accelerate time to market.
  • Build data analytics and metrics to track the effectiveness of App Sec initiatives.
  • Have the ability to read and understand application source code to provide specific recommendations for identified vulnerabilities to application teams.
  • Have strong technical writing and presentation skills to report and articulate security vulnerabilities to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in security testing, performing application penetration testing, source code review, software composition analysis, and threat modeling. A good understanding of enterprise application development using programming languages like Java or .NET is essential. Experience in source code management, build, and deployment technologies, such as RLM, Udeploy, Jenkins, Artifactory, Maven, GitHub, etc., is also required.

A strong understanding of industry-standard tools and technologies, including JIRA, Checkmarx, BlackDuck, Contrast, AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, PCF, and excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary. Must have a strong understanding of ethical hacking methodologies, frameworks, and industry resources, e.g., OWASP, NIST publications, SANS/CWE, among others.
