The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professor to lead the Genomics and Bioinformatics Cluster. This is a 9-month tenured professor position that will act as the lead for the cluster, with an anticipated start date of August 8, 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a research program that strengthens the tenure home department and the cluster.
  • Lead the Genomics and Bioinformatics Cluster, providing strategic direction and guidance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance the field of genomics and bioinformatics.
  • Secure extramural funding to support research initiatives.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, biological sciences, biomedical sciences, or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in cutting-edge bioinformatics methods, with applications in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, or AI in medicine.
  • A strong, consistent, and recent funding record from the NIH, NSF, or other equivalent agencies in genomics and bioinformatics.
  • Demonstrated leadership in interdisciplinary research and/or education programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient teaching skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with both graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and developing research programs.
