Peace Ventures World-Wide is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef/Sous Chef to join our team at Bammy's Modern Caribbean Restaurant located at the Navy Yards. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating authentic Caribbean meals that exceed our patrons' expectations. Your expertise will be essential in planning our menu, ensuring that each dish is not only delicious but also nutritious and cost-effective. You will work closely with our kitchen staff to deliver food that meets the highest quality standards.

To succeed in this role, you should be an exceptional leader with excellent organizational skills and impeccable time management. You will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, coordinating kitchen staff, and training them to prepare and cook all menu items. You will also be responsible for tracking inventory, placing orders, and enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen. Additionally, you will be expected to create new recipes to keep our menu fresh and up-to-date with industry trends. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner.
  • Plan the menu, keeping in mind the budget and availability of seasonal ingredients.
  • Oversee all kitchen operations.
  • Coordinate kitchen staff and assist them as required.
  • Train staff to prepare and cook all menu items.
  • Track inventory and place orders.
  • Enforce safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
  • Create new recipes to keep the menu fresh.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Receive feedback and make improvements where necessary.

Requirements:
  • Culinary school degree or diploma.
  • Strong Caribbean cooking skill set and background.
  • Advanced knowledge of the culinary arts.
  • Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control.
  • Portfolio of creative and unique dishes.
  • Expert multitasking ability.
  • Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to run stocktaking and place orders for resupply.
