Under the guidance of the District Director, the Environmental Program Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the Corpsmember Orientation, Motivation, Education, and Training (COMET) initiative, as well as the Corpsmember Development (CMD) program. This role may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to supervise CMD activities. The Coordinator will lead the Conservationist 1 and Residential Advisor in executing CMD programs during non-COMET intervals.

Work Environment

Your work conditions will vary, encompassing both indoor and outdoor settings, potentially in remote or urban locations. You may supervise Corpsmembers while residing in hotels or basic campsites. Typical work hours are structured as 4/10s, Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 5:30 PM, contingent upon project requirements.

During fire season, assignments may include extended stays at fire camps for up to 21 days, providing opportunities for overtime.

This position is classified as "In Office" and does not qualify for telecommuting.

Essential Qualifications

  • Commercial Driver License – Must provide proof of a Commercial Class C license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle endorsement (or equivalent) from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
  • Pre-employment Drug Screening – Successful completion of a urine drug test is required. In accordance with Federal Highway Administration regulations, candidates for positions requiring a commercial driver license must pass a pre-employment drug test. Note: Applicants who fail the drug test will be disqualified from the examination and will not be eligible for state civil service examinations requiring drug testing for one year from the date of the test.
  • Background Check – Candidates must undergo fingerprinting and successfully complete a Criminal Offender Record Information check by the Department of Justice (DOJ), which may include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
  • Medical Evaluation – A medical clearance examination is mandatory for this classification.
