Position Overview

The EHS Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in the establishment, execution, and oversight of comprehensive health, safety, and environmental initiatives within the organization. This role encompasses conducting safety assessments aimed at mitigating injuries, decreasing liability risks, and ensuring adherence to the company's safety protocols. The coordinator will collaborate across various departments to pinpoint, devise, and implement corrective measures to minimize or eliminate potential hazards. This position also involves ensuring that employee training and standards are maintained, including the documentation of necessary forms as mandated by state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safety and regulatory compliance of operations and personnel.
  • Establish and enforce standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the facility.
  • Implement both corporate and local policies to enhance safety practices.
  • Work alongside management and corporate compliance teams to address concerns, issues, or violations, including remediation plans.
  • Submit requests for SOP revisions as needed.
  • Manage processes such as NDA and Chemical Approval as required.
  • Gather teams or experts to investigate and formulate corrective actions for identified safety or environmental risks.
  • Provide training to employees to ensure proficient performance, fostering motivation through personal example and strong interpersonal skills to build a cohesive team.
  • Analyze facility trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Compile monthly reports detailing the facility's progress.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations.
  • Conduct audits and document findings in a clear and organized manner.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure employee safety during operations.
  • Develop and implement safety programs.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees by providing orientation, training, and explanations of processes and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of EHS-related programs.
  • Lead the site safety committee.
  • Manage first responder, safety, and engagement initiatives.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Remain vigilant regarding hazards in the workplace.
  • Comprehend and retain department-specific training.
  • Report safety incidents and concerns, ensuring compliance with follow-up actions.
  • Adhere to area safety requirements, state regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP), biosecurity, sanitation, and other quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as directed.
  • Calibrate and maintain tools and equipment as instructed.
  • Report and escalate safety and quality concerns as necessary.
Working Conditions:
  • Regularly required to perform physical tasks such as reaching, grasping, bending, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining focus.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds (and up to 100 pounds with assistance) with care.
  • Must work in environments with high temperatures and humidity for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Daily exposure to allergens may occur.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Administration, Environmental Health, or related fields, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 6 months of experience in an operational setting focused on developing and implementing SOPs and compliance procedures.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • High level of critical thinking skills.
  • Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential information.
  • Understanding of and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Solid grasp of cannabis laws and a commitment to ongoing learning in this area.
  • Effective time management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with others while also completing individual tasks.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of a valid state ID and driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state licensing requirements for the cannabis industry, including background checks.
