Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Engineering Project Manager to join our team at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for providing project and engineering task management for a wide array of waste facility design and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degrees of technical complexity.
  • Manage waste and facility design projects for Federal, State, municipal, and private clients.
  • Coordinate and track action items and budgets through all phases of a facility project, including strategic planning, permitting, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Receive, issue, and track RFIs, submittals, and other required data.
  • Support other project and proposal efforts, including estimating, procurement, and project controls.
  • Read, clearly understand, and interpret construction drawings.
  • Work with project accountants to issue invoices and monthly reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and develop subagreements and manage subcontractor budgets.
  • Establish client relations and be involved in business development, marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Assist in leading a team of staff engineers in preparation of design deliverables, including engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction schedules.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate remedial actions.
  • Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans, and specifications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience.
  • Access experience a plus.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active participation in solid waste organizations.
  • Local candidates preferred.
